About a year and a half ago, Pat and I were able to take a trip to Kauai with other parents who had also lost children. {Read about it here} It was incredible, and we are still grateful for the experience. Each year, Heidi the founder, holds the Ladybug Luau- a fundraiser that pays to send couples to Kauai for a week of healing. The foundation pays for everything, it literally doesn’t cost couples a penny to go.
Pat and I were both asked to speak and attend the alumni reunion lunch which consisted of couples from our retreat and one held just last spring. It was fun catching up and meeting new couples.
Pat and I both spoke about how the retreat helped us individually and how it has helped our marriage. I’ve spoken quite a bit since losing Preslee, but it was the first time for Pat. We didn’t speak very long, but I couldn’t help but feel so grateful for Ohana Oasis, because I know Pat would have never done something like this before visiting Kauai. Ohana Oasis really has changed our lives. It was an emotional but fun night bidding on items and eating a great Hawaiian dinner.
We spent the rest of the weekend at my brother’s house and a big shoutout to my SIL for watching our kids, (Thank you!). I wish we lived closer to cousins, our boys are still talking about it.
We’ll be life long supporters of Ohana Oasis, and actually talked to Heidi about being more involved in her foundation. Hoping for big things to happen in the future. To learn more about the foundation and how it’s literally changing lives click here.
Mahalo!
