I’m sure you’ve noticed there has been little posting…here’s why!
- The weather has been weirdly amazing this year, so we ran like crazy to get our Sno Shack open about a month earlier than usual. That included painting, replacing the floor, interviews (Nearly 20 girls) and a whole lot more. For about a week straight my boys saw very little of me.
- Pat and I were fortunate enough to spend 8 days in Kauai! It was unreal, and something we will never forget. We cannot wait to explain the meaning behind all of it.(Next post, stay tuned!) We even left our kids at home… a big milestone for us :)
- We were recently made an offer on our shack, and decided it was time to sell. Today we handed everything over, (I’ll admit I got quite sentimental, I’ve ran that shack for the past 9 years!) But for a few days it took all our energy to get everything ready for the new owners.
- Have you ever left your kids for 8 days? They are pretty attached to your hip when you get back. I’ve been trying to balance lots of cuddle time and work. The boys usually win. :)
- We move this Saturday! Cottonwood Heights, here we come! Can you believe it? It seemed so far away, and now it’s here! We just started packing today, (We’ve got a lot left to do) I’m desperately trying to stay in vacation mode, and not let the stress take over. Wish us luck!
There’s a lot of change taking place in our lives right now, and though we’re excited, the thought of leaving the place Preslee lived her life is more difficult than I thought it would be. As I’ve been packing up, it’s been bittersweet to find little reminders tucked away in boxes and bags in our basement. But I can honestly say the experiences in Hawaii have helped immensely. Our Heavenly Father is very aware of our needs.
Our son passed away 2.5 years ago and 8 months ago we moved across the country! It was hard to leave the home he was here on earth with us! Good luck with the transition! It all works out!
ReplyDeleteYou'll love Cottonwood Heights! That was my neck of the woods growing up! It's a great and safe area! Especially having the mountains at your finger tips! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog forever and never comment...sorry! I live in Cottonwood Heights but I grew up in eastern Idaho. You are going to LOVE it here, this is the best place in the valley! We have a great location for any commute, for skiing and hiking and beautiful canyons. I'd be happy to help you with any questions while you're getting settled....I can fill you in on the best grocery stores, parks, pediatricians, etc. Seriously :)
Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that things are falling into place and that you got to take a fabulous trip, just the two of you. What an adventure. I can't wait to hear about it. When my mom sold her home after my dad passed away, I was really sad because that is the only house my 4 sisters and I ever livedin , other than our own homes with our husbands. I took a video and walked through each of the rooms to explain some of the memories of each room. Of course, it looked a little different than when we were little girls. The furniture and things on the walls were different but so many memories. I suggest you do that...do a video of each room and include memories of Preslee and your boys. Include memories of when you first moved there and some of the fun things you did to improve the home or memories of wonderful birthdays, Christmases, good times and hard times. It will make you cry as you recall those wonderful hard beautiful memories. Then one day when you view the video and it will make you cry all over again. I did that one day...I popped the video in the machine and watched it. My husband commented: "You realize you are crying watching a video of you crying in the video!!" I'm really happy for you Ashley that you are on to a new adventure and your husband has his new job. Yes, Lots of changes but lots of good things too. I can't imagine how hard it is leaving the only home your daughter knew and leaving her resting spot. My niece Kendra had a hard time leaving SLC to move away to Washington. But her family and our family take good care of Makenzie's spot - it's not at all the same as her mama doing that for her but we want her to know that we love her still, too, and will never forget her just like you will never forget your Preslee. Men (and women) are that they might have joy!! Continue to have joy in your life, make wonderful memories, grow and develop as a family. Someday you will get that perfect day and will be all together again. Until then, you will be a busy mom and wife and I know you will continue to be strong and faithful. You are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading your blog for years and I am thrilled that you are coming to Cottonwood Heights! This truly is such a wonderful city. You will have so many amazing places to exercise and there are lots of great parks and of course the mountains to play in. Hope your move goes smoothly and hope to see you around.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that things are changing but sad too for you at the same time... I am sure you are so very torn between moving somewhere new & leaving the place Preslee was raised until her passing! Remember you still have her with you always & hold dear too that to help you make it through this transition! Good luck sweet girl to you pat & all 3 sweet boys :)
