I know I’ve written quite a few posts on drowning this month, but due to the fact it’s water safety month, I feel like it’s a good time to share some important info. First, Tiffany finished up our four week series with her post, read it {here}. I also stumbled across another blog post {here}, teaching about the dangers of a “secondary drowning.” I had never heard of anything like this, so it was a real eye opener. If you plan on being around water with you kids this summer, please take a minute to read it.
We hope you all have a safe Memorial Day, we’ll be spending the day at a few different cemeteries, and laying low.
So grateful for those who have fought and died for our country.
It is very scary! As a swim instructor and previous swim team coach I have found that the majority of people have never heard of secondary drowning, also known as dry drowning. I think it is so wonderful for you to try to help educate people, especially after all of your experiences! You are so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI just read about secondary drowning today. I have worked in radiology in the ER for 23 years and somehow this was the first I'd heard of it. Thankful that I learned of it now, at the beginning of summer, and could pass on the information to others.
ReplyDeleteI experienced secondary drowning on my 15th birthday. It was the scariest thing and luckily my mom rushed me to the hospital just a few minutes before it was to late. I always watch my kids closely especially at night after a swim day. I love how you are educating people about the reality. I am a very cautious mom especially around the pool but some of the facts you have posted I hadn't known! Keep it up!!
