We had such a great response to the water safety post. Tiffany wrote a great post yesterday, make sure to check it out. I was excited when EIRMC, the hospital that first treated Preslee, e-mailed me and asked if they could share the printable. We feel like it’s really circulating, (Thank you to those who shared it) and hoping to help save a few kids from drowning this summer.
Speaking of summer, I hadn’t realized it had been an entire week since I last posted! Oops. We have spent every second that we could outside. We are beyond thrilled it is warm outside.
This took place at my parent’s house. I busted up laughing when my mom sent me this picture.
Definitely Idaho Redneck style.
We gave Ledger his Birthday present a month early. I’m more than ready to help him burn off a little energy during the day. I was beyond thrilled to realize I have an outdoor play pen. No escaping babies!
We opened the Sno Shack this week. Yay! That’s what’s taken most of our time. We had a great opening day, and am looking forward to a fabulous summer. All of our employees returned from last year, which I’ve never had before. I think it will help the shack run more smoothly. We bought a new shaver! We’re hoping that will speed things up. And my child who doesn’t eat sweets, actually tried a sno cone. I was thrilled! I know I should be happy with how healthy the kid is, but c’mon, his parents own a Sno Shack and is probably the only child in the world hasn’t tried one. Ha He’s never had ice cream either, so the cold was a little overwhelming for him.
If you’ve ever lost someone, you understand how difficult it becomes to function. After Preslee passed away, we kind of stopped focusing on our huge back yard. We did bare minimum, and after a few years, we’ve decided it’s time to get it back in shape. We’ve spent a lot of time doing yard work, and we’ve also decided to grow our first garden. Wish us luck!
Pat trimmed all the trees, and here’s to hoping our pear tree produces a ton of fruit!
And I like to call these two boys Seek and Destroy. They are in to EVERYTHING. I’m amazed at the havoc the two can create. I’ve had to purchase a couple of extra baby gates. They’ve spent their days outside bear crawling because they hate the grass, and eating dandelions…
I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but since taking Cannon Ball and Cruizer off of milk, life has been amazing. I haven’t taken one day for granted.
Here’s to a summer filled with sno cones and days spent outside.
Please be careful..trampolines can be just as dangerous! A new study from an IU School of Medicine researcher finds that from 2002 to 2011, accidents on backyard trampolines accounted for nearly 289,000 visits to emergency rooms for broken bones. Factor in all accidents, not just fractures, and the tally rises to more than 1 million ER visits, according to the study published online in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have been busy!
ReplyDeleteWe are looking at that small trampoline for my youngest daughter's birthday. Our friends have it, and it's the perfect size for her!
Loved your post on water safety so much. I had a 2 year old nephew drown in September and adults were siting a few feet away from him. I loved your ideas and completely agree with them.
ReplyDeleteHowever, about the trampoline comment...I am sure Ashley is so safety conscious due to losing Preslee but we seriously cannot worry about every single thing that can injure our children or we will go crazy with worry!! I grew up without wearing helmets and with a trampoline with no net next to concrete. I ate honey as a baby and slept on my tummy. I think today if parents could put their children in bubbles they would because at every turn they are told their child might die from bumper pads in their crib or the crib having a drop down side. I have five children and I don't want to hover so badly they gain no confidence or independence!
Just my rant...take it or leave it
You're such a great mom! So wonderful to those boys and you take such good care of them!!! You inspire me so much!:)
ReplyDeleteHello busy summer! I want a snowcone with extra juice of course :) They are so very yummy! Hope the boys are loving there new trampoline...
ReplyDeleteHaha Love the first picture. My Dad has done similar things :) Those Grandpas are just too fun! In the winter, when we were little he would pull us behind the suburban on tubes. (It was in Driggs on the back roads, but still...funny) I love seeing life through your eyes Ashley! You do a great job at sharing the little details. I hope you have a great summer!
ReplyDeleteGreat post....you are a wonderful mom and person. I love your posts....the "seek and destroy" made me laugh. We had 3 baby gates when my grandson was a crawler/toddler. But they didn't keep him contained too long but that's ok too. I hope you have a wonderful, busy, crazy, fun summer. We too bought our son a trampoline when he turned 5. Yup, we had no net but it was on the grass and not by anything like wood or cement. We had a few mishaps but lots of kids had lots of fun on it. Enjoy your summer with your boys....the time goes by so fast....you'll barely blink and they will be graduating from high school!! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy little guy is off dairy too and we have been enjoying the Enjoy LIfe brand of food :)
