Christmas Eve night, Ledger was coughing a croup like cough, and cried if he was anywhere but our bed, so Pat slept on the couch and I stayed in bed with Ledger. About half way through the night, Ledger’s breathing/snoring became so loud I went to join Pat in the front room… and I walked right into this!
A road bike!
Ever since running a sprint triathlon, I’ve been saving for a bike (over two years). It’s been a slow going process, but this year Pat and my parents took what I had saved and paid for the rest. Pat sneakily brought it in during the night. After literally running into it, I was soo excited, that I laid awake all night wishing I could turn on the light to check it out, without waking up Pat. I seriously felt like I was eight years old waiting for Santa again. Somehow I made it through the night, and I was just as excited as Ledger Christmas morning.
Every time we asked Ledger what he wanted Santa to bring him he said, “A plane… a big one! Make me happy.” He’s a little obsessed with Disney’s new movie Planes, so planes it was. Santa brought a Planes tent, a big El Chupacabra, and a smaller Dusty plane. Needless to say, Santa did a great job, Ledge hasn’t put them down since.
They seriously hold hands.
I used to receive a pair of knitted slippers every Christmas from my Grandma Siddoway. Our first year of marriage was the last year my Grandma knitted some, and Pat seriously wore holes through his. Pat mentions them every Christmas. At our family Christmas family party, I mentioned this to my Aunt Nichole, and she spent two days before Christmas knitting all the boys a pair. I had no idea she knew had to knit! She dropped them off Christmas Eve, and I surprised Pat with them Christmas morning. She surprised me with a pair for me, and I was confused with the extra pair of blue slippers. Later that morning I lined them up to take a picture, and my heart hurt a little, realizing there should be an extra pair… when it hit me, the blue slippers weren’t a mistake, they were for Preslee. I went and grabbed them, placed them where they were supposed to be and took the picture. Thanks Nichole, it means so much when others incorporate Preslee.
Later that morning, we went to breakfast at my parents house. We spent the day there, Pat and I introduced them to the game Killer Bunnies. It was a great day.
Cruiz grabbing Cannon’s hand again.
My parents also gave me a bike rack for my car! Now I can go ride with my dad.
Ledger’s new favorite book.
We were completely spoiled this year. Seriously. I surprised Pat with an automatic starter for his car, we don’t have a garage, and I thought it would be nice on campus. Everyone was soo generous.
It was beyond fun to have a child who understands what Christmas is about. He loved Santa, until he met him in real life, but more importantly I watched him fall in love with baby Jesus. He spent hours playing with our Nativity set, and begged everyday to watch a youtube video about Christ’s birth. One day he came up to me and said, “Momma, I love you, Baby Jesus, and St. Nic.”
Hope you all had a Merry Merry Christmas!
What a beautiful Christmas! I cried reading about her blue slippers, what a precious gift! I am also a mom of twin boys. Mine will be six next month and they still hold hands and even though they have bunk beds they sleep in the same bed. It is truly a blessing when they are best friends!
ReplyDeletethis is a beautiful post! the babies holding hands by the tree completely melted my heart away...so precious!! and the slippers...wow...so amazing! thanks for sharing your beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteso fun!! Love how they hold hands too, so sweet! Looks like yall had a fun christmas!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh....the holding hands is so precious!!! Having a twin, I can say that it is the greatest blessing a sibling could ask for. Having lost a child and blessed to have 4 living, I can say that an angel baby is equal to that twin blessing...for my children. They strive to be so good and remember the very deep connection they have to returning home to Heaven....their brother.
