How Far Along: 33 weeks 5 days
Weight Gain: I lost a pound this week. I’ve been really surprised with my weight during this pregnancy. I gained more with Ledger than I have this time around.
Symptoms: Passed another kidney stone. Exhaustion. The pressure on my pelvis continues to increase each week, and all I want to do is sit or lay. My stomach has become super heavy. Getting ready for the day has become my workout. Contractions continue to get harder.
Sleep: As soon as I lay down either a kicking match begins or a dance party… I’m guessing it’s a kicking match I’ve gotten a little more sleep after passing the kidney stone.
Favorite Moment: Having my Grandma and a lady from our ward stop by to drop off fruit for me. I can’t really walk through the grocery store anymore, so I went a little crazy over the strawberries and grapes.
Preparation: Diaper bag, car seats, and stroller arrived this week, and for the most part I’m pretty much packed and ready for the hospital. We are still looking for a car, I'm trying to convince Pat that a mini van would really be helpful with 3 kids in car seats, even if they aren’t as attractive as an SUV.
Miss Anything? Being able to let Ledger sit on my lap, I can tell he misses doing things with me. I told Pat the other night I can’t wait to be able to take him on a little walk, cuddle, or wrestle with him in about a month.
Cravings: Pina Colada smoothie
Maternity Clothes: The choices in my closet are dwindling, and I don’t want to spend money on the last few weeks. So if you see me around, I’ll probably be wearing the same outfit.
I’m now measuring 41 weeks pregnant. (compared to carrying one baby) The nurse said it best when she said, “You’re officially baked!”
I think you still look ADORABLE.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't really want to get a minivan (especially me more than my husband). I would rather have an SUV but minivans are way more practical with little kids.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the minivan comment! We just recently bought a Dodge Journey, it has the 3rd row for when we have a 3rd child. The only problem is getting ANYTHING in the back when the 3rd row is in use. We used a minivan while the car was in the shop and I was kind of regretting getting the Journey. Sure, not as attractive, but much more convenient. And yes, you still look adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely fabulous and in this shirt, to me you don't look like you're about ready to have twins! I love, love, LOVE my mini van! I didn't really want one before we started having kids, but they are SO convenient! The doors that open and close by themselves, the fact that the doors won't open up and hit another car, the room you have to get baby(ies) in and out when you're in a tight parking stall...tell Pat you NEED a van! Good luck, you look great and hopefully this last few weeks will be easy on you and you'll be holding your precious baby boys soon!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely amazing! And with that shirt you look super tiny and not like you're about ready to give birth to twins! I love, love, LOVE my mini van! I didn't want a van at all before having kids of my own. But once we added #3, I gave in. I LOVE it now! The fact that the doors open and close on their own is so convenient. Also, the doors can never swing open and hit another car, especially while getting kids in/out of the van. The room that you have to get kids in and out when you're parked in a tight parking spot. I could go on. Tell Pat you NEED a van! Good luck! I hope these last few weeks are easy on you and soon you'll have your two precious baby boys to snuggle (as well as room for Ledger!).
ReplyDeleteYou look great! You are almost there-so happy for you! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my Odyssey! My family totally makes fun of me for wanting (then buying) one, but I don't care. Being able to push a button and the doors sliding open is by far, my favorite feature. I also love that my oldest can pull the handle and have the doors slide themselves open. The fact that my kid can't swing open a door to hit the car next to us is a big deal too! Accessing the 3rd row isn't too bad, you can take out one of the middle seats and have the easy access to the back to install a car seat or help Ledger buckle up. I fold down half of my 3rd row and just go through the back to help my son buckle up in his booster seat (in that 3rd row). I say if you are the one who is driving 3 kids in car seats around the most, you should get to pick the car! :) Good luck and I hope things continue to go well with the pregnancy!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my minivan and my husband loves it too! We can fit a double stroller and groceries in the back, and our 3rd is coming in november so I wanted the space. You are so adorable!!
ReplyDeleteAshley, your blog always touches my heart and I just wanted to comment to tell you congratulations on your upcoming baby boys! And you look beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute, but you also look exhausted! :) I can't wait to see pictures of the twins.
ReplyDeletePregnancy really agree's with you! I can't believe how tiny you look! Yes, you have a baby belly, but that's it! If you had a picture with just your face, arms, legs, ect no one would know you were preggo! Skinny Minnie!
ReplyDeleteWe just upgraded (if you look at it that way, I totally do though!) to a Toyota Sienna and LOVE IT!!! Even my husband whose almost 6'5 loves it, despite not wanting a mini van in the first place. We had a Toyota 4Runner with a 3rd row, and we have 3 kids plus I'm due anyday with our 4th so technically our 4 kids could still fit in the 4Runner, but getting anything back to the 3rd row was always a hassle. Plus, the storage space in the mini is AMAZING!!! Not to mention the auto doors, and all the fancy features they can come with. Best decision yet!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! Just wait til after they come and you can actually move again..best feeling!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Toyota Sequoia and put the twins in the 3rd row in their carseats and then the other carseats in the middle row. It works well but I know there are some great mini van options out there.

Mini vans are awesome! I drive a Honda Odessy and I L-O-V-E it. So roomy and still just as nice looking as an SUV in my opinion. Plus I can open the doors with a remote control from far away. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful, really. I would die to look that great pregnant and I've never had twins! :) You are so blessed.
you could also check out the Mazda 5. similar issue as with the dodge journey mentioned above, but we LOVE ours. We have 3 boys...but no twins :) when we bought it, we just planned on also getting a roof rack and box. good luck!
ReplyDeleteA minivan is great with 3 kids! Pat won't be driving it, so I'd say you win this one. :) I'm SO impressed at how good you look and how well you are tolerating this twin pregnancy. Impressive! I hope you only have 2 weeks to go or so.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if your familier with the blog the R house? they had an suv and just recently got the Honda minivan she has done several reviews on it, about how much she loves the van compaired to the tahoe. You can checkout her reviews at therhouse.com
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my minivan!! It's not cute or sporty but it is the BEST thing ever with little kids and a baby. 3 words, automatic sliding doors. Best thing ever!!! Especially with a carseat... Even more so with 2!!! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteMinivans are sooo cool with three littles! We had a Tahoe for the first six months after our twins were born. Hauling their two carseats plus their two year old brother's in and out of that thing wrecked havoc on my back. That and the fact that there was no room for all the baby gear. We looked cooler in the Tahoe for sure but I would never trade my van! Best thing ever!
ReplyDeleteHang in there sweet mama! You are nearing the finish line of this journey and approaching the starting line of another. You have such an adventure waiting for you! My babies just turned three and I love just watching them and listening to them interact. My thoughts and prayers are with you a lot!
Random question- are you planning on nursing the boys? I have a double blessings pillow that saved me! I tandem nursed for 14 months and it was awesome. Anyways, I've got it if you want it. I live in UT, about 15 min. north of Bountiful. Thinking maybe your brother could get it to you somehow. Email me if you're interested. natalienmorgan@gmail.com.
xx
Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to try breastfeeding, hoping it will go well. I was actually given one of the double nursing pillows already, but thank you so much for your offer!
DeleteI hope nursing goes well for you! And... If it doesn't that is great too! I'm so excited for you and what's to come soon. I know it feels like you're going to pregnant and uncomfortable forever but you're doing such a great job! I wish you all the best.
DeleteI actually love have a mini van! It's much easier to get them all in and out! Good luck! I have been looking forward to meeting your 2 little men!
ReplyDeleteWe were totally the minivan hatters...UNTIL we had 3 kids under the age of 4:) I can now say...and so can Kurt...that our minivan was the smartest...BEST decision ever!! We decided to forget the looks and just go for it and we are sooo glad we did. We have a Chrysler Town and Country, stow and go. You can put the seats down and they stow in the floor of the car. It is so sweet and allows for tons of room to get kids in and out!
ReplyDeleteWe have 16 month old twins and a a 3 year old (at the time they were born) we went with the Honda Pilot, its one of the widest SUV's on the market, making it feasible to put 3 car seats on one bench. It also has 3rd row seating that folds down, which is awesome for when we need to pull our 4 year old out of the party that twins bring with them.:)
ReplyDeleteI don't know you, but I found your blog through a friend. I had twin boys nine months ago. My oldest son was two when my twins were born. Once your babies are born, convenience will be at a premium, my advice would be to get a minivan. You can get one with automatic doors, which comes in handy. You need all the help and efficiency you can get. Some days, actually most days especially at the beginning, it will be exhausting to get yourself and the three boys out the door for doctor's appointments. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMini van all the way!!! And you are super amazing, by the way! You got this...hang in there!! :) Can't wait to see pics of the new little guys!!
ReplyDeleteyou are doing AMAZING!!! I was already on bed rest with my twins at this point {had them at 35 1/2 weeks} so I don't remember having to wear anything cute or look good. You look AWESOME!!!!! And I say go for a mini van! I know it's not the coolest and NO guy wants to be known as "the mini van dad" but seriously, it will be a life saver! Good luck with the end of this pregnancy! Thanks for sharing every week...I always look forward to seeing just how much cuter you get....and you are THE cutest twin preggo lady EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteYOu look great!!! And truest me when I tell you I never wanted a minivan, but the thought has crossed my mind as we prepare for #4. We bought a 7 passenger SUV and it is still a pain. We have space for everyone, but little storage and if I have to help someone buckle in teh back it is challenging. Unless you are planning on getting a big SUV that doesn't require a seat to fold down to get to the back I would seriously consider a minivan. They have come a long way and definatly have way more features!
ReplyDeleteMinivans are SO awesome and are just made for families with small children. I'm such a fan of them.
ReplyDeleteMy friend has 3 little ones, including twins. They got a Honda Odyssey and the storage in the back section is amazing! Even so, they need a roof rack for long trips. You are almost at 34 weeks! Good going!! I hope that you 3 can hang in there as long as possible ... as uncomfortable as it is for you, the longer they cook, the less issues afterwards ... I don't want to see you deal with the stress of the NICU.
ReplyDeleteYou look great! Just another plug for a mini van. I had my third three months ago and my SUV has been a nightmare! Our double stroller does not fit with even one of the third row seats up so all three kids are crammed into the middle row. Getting them in and out is a huge pain. We are getting a mini van ASAP! Let Pat read these comments. My hubby was really against it too, but even he has now admitted he dreams of a mini van every time we put the kids in the car!
ReplyDeleteI have identical twin girls that just turned 2 the day after Ledger! We debated between a minivan and an SUV with a 3rd row and went with the minivan. Best feature ever is the sliding doors that can open with your key fob. It was a lifesaver while carrying both girls downstairs in their infant seats. Now that they're bigger they can actually climb into the van by themselves and into their carseat. My mom has a pilot that we drove while visiting them and the 3rd row is hard to get kids into and the hatch area didn't fit our double stroller with the 3rd row used- the Chicco cubes stroller. We decided right then we had definitely made the right choice and I love my minivan.
ReplyDeletePS-you're adorable! Hang in there a few more weeks. I delivered my girls really early and it was such a roller coaster ride in the NICU although they were only 25 weeks. Can't wait to hear their names!
First off...I hope for your sake, those babies come out to play this month, and that they are healthy! Secondly...Minivans. We resisted for a long time, but we finally crossed over to the minivan side a couple of years ago. I wish we hadn't waited so long! Before the minivan, we had 3 growing kids in an SUV. They were crammed in like sardines. Short trips (like to church) were okay, but if even one of them was in a bad mood, we all heard about it. Longer trips were horrible (Stop touching me! Don't lean on me! Mom! I'm squished!). The first road-trip we took after we got a minivan was like a dream! Tell Pat that he'll be glad he got one... :-)
ReplyDeleteI have 4 kids that are 5 and under. So, 4 kids all in some sort of car seat, plus I nanny so I have a fifth. I have a mini van, but recently had to borrow a yukon. While the Yukon is much more "my style", I was sooooo glad to get my van back! It's so hard to get the kids in the Yukon, you are throwing the kids in there, helping them walk to the back, squeezing through the seat that gives you access to the back to wrangle the 2 year old to get in her seat so you can buckle it. Then heaving a large infant carrier to the middle spot of the Yukon either over another car seat or over another kid is not so fun. Plus, 3 of my kids can't get in the Yukon themselves...where as in the van only the baby can't get in alone. The way I see it is yes, a mini van isn't glam or sexy, but is carting around 4 kids 5 and under sexy? Normally for me it isn't! Maybe you'll have all calm kids that will be super easy...but I have crazy independent kids! There is nothing better than quickly throwing them in the car (turning on the movie) so I can load up the double stroller, and the groceries and then get them all buckled in. Get the sexy car when your kids start driving. They can beat the mini can to crap as they drive too and from high school, and you can enjoy your "cool" SUV. Parenthood with a bunch of little kids is all about convenience and sanity....don't budge on the mini van!
ReplyDeleteMy brother has a Toyota sienna and its pretty roomy at stones in rexburg or Mazda5 our neighbor has that!
ReplyDeleteHey blogging friend…I nominated you for this award because I love your blog. I think it is just a way of spreading good blogs around. So thanks for writing! http://moreholinessgive.blogspot.com/2013/07/i-dont-really-know-what-this-means-but.html
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE our minivan!! We have a Nissan Quest, my SIL has the Honda Odyssey, my friend has the Chrysler Town & Country, & my BFF has the Toyota Siena! All of us love them for different reasons & they all have something different & wonderful about them! Seriously though, they are a dream w/ 3 kids! Pat can have his dream car when the babes are grown & gone! They are way better on gas than an SUV too! Good luck! Can't wait to hear what you end up w/!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful and way skinnier than I was at 33 weeks! Congrats on that milestone! As far as cars go, we were able to find a Yukon Denali that fit 3 car seats. It has 2 captain seats and a regular bench in the back. It works out well for us & that'll be my car until I'm at least done with the double stroller! Keep trucking on, keep resting, and keep drinking that water!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 kids all under 3 and let me just say you will definitely regret it at some point if you don't get a minivan! We love our Odyssey because of the auto-close back trunk and the tons of room!
