I apologize for the background, my designer got hacked, and she’s working on it!
How Far Along? 29 Weeks 5 days.
Stretch Marks: Yes.. I want to cry, but I know they are pretty much inevitable with twins. They literally showed up over night. My stomach is stretching so much it’s continually itchy! Has anyone found something that works for that?
Miss Anything? Being able to pick up after Ledger easily. Today I found myself sitting on the floor in his room scooting around throwing everything I needed to pick up into the new crib. Once the floor was clean, I stood up and pulled everything out of the crib without bending over. I’ve got all sorts of tricks for doing things these days.
Symptoms: A lot of braxton hicks, left rib hurts, and extremely large belly
Gestational Diabetes (GD): This week went so much better than the first. The Dr. took me off all white carbs, like white rice, white bread, white pasta, etc. My numbers were right on track, which means no meds for me. Thanks for all the advice on walking, exercise makes a huge difference with my numbers.
Baby Update: Things definitely changed this week. I went from feeling pretty great, to extremely pregnant. Monday, while I was on a walk with Ledger, I felt intense pressure between my legs as if the baby suddenly dropped, strong braxton hicks, and some cramping. Once I got home I took a warm bath, continued to feel horrible, went to bed early, and experienced a sleepless night.
I had my appointment the next morning, where they used the ultrasound machine to measure my cervix. It showed that my cervix has shortened. I’m right on the border of, so they are concerned. I was told to take it EASY, and am not supposed to do much of anything, so it looks like Ledger and I will be hanging around home from here on out.
During the ultrasound it showed Baby A extremely low, which explains the extreme pressure I’m feeling and why it’s uncomfortable to walk. Hopefully everything will slow down and we can keep these babies cookin’ for quite a bit longer.
Aveeno makes an "anti-itch" cream and it helped me a bit. It didn't take everything away but it helped! You look so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRubbing olive oil on your belly after the shower really helps with itching and stretch marks! You rub it in and let it sit there for a bit, then you can pat yourself with a towel to get the excess off. It really works!
ReplyDeleteI have never left a comment on your blog before. Probably because I don't know you and I feel a little stalkerish because I read our blog like every time you post! Anyways I just wanted to let you know I absolutely love your blog. I think you are such an amazing person and I love how real you are about everything on here. Thank you for being so willing to put your feelings on here and not being afraid to share the gospel when you feel it's right. I know you have inspired me to put myself out there a little more. Good luck with the twins :)

P.S. Where do you get all your maternity clothes? You always wear such cute stuff!
Good luck keeping those babies in there longer! My mom carried us until 38 weeks and didn't know she was pregnant with twins until we were born! :)
ReplyDeleteMy friend introduced me to Bi-Oil and I feel like it helps a lot with the stretch marks and all that! I think you can get it at Walmart but I know that Walgreens has it! You look amazing for carrying twins! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the stretch marks go, have you tried shea butter/cocoa butter? Just keep that tummy slathered!
Take it easy, enjoy Ledger and soon you be snuggling 2 more sweet boys!
I used Palmer's Cocoa Butter with my son. It is thick, not too greasy, and lasts. Bio oil is good too. My belly itched so bad with my daughter. I had acrylic nails at the tiime, and scratched my belly almost till it bled. Don't do that! My belly looks like I got into a fight with a cat. ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved to use Coconut Oil on my belly for moisturizer and Renew lotion by Melaluca. It is kinda pricey but I loved how it kept the itching away. The best lotion hands down!
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE your shirt! I think I may need to invest in it :) I have to say I'm pretty impressed you've kept these boys baking for this long! All of my family have our guesses, mine is 33 weeks max, just because with Preslee there was no way you made it to the 2nd due date and now you've got two in there. Can't wait to see them and PS I'm coming to town the week after the 4th so I may have to drop in and see your belly (or babieswhatever comes first ) and Mr. Ledger!
ReplyDeletetake it easy! My friend had her twins right at 30 weeks and even though they were 3 and 4lbs they had to be in the NICU for 6 weeks! Love your blog too! Can't wait to hear what the boys names are!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you! I have 2 sets of twins for the itchy stomach my Dr had me use a Benadryl cream. Good Luck and take it easy.
ReplyDeleteI pray you can keep those little ones in for a few more weeks!
Ashley, I hope you know just how beautiful you are, my heavens I think you are so pretty inside and out! And that baby belly is so cute! You look great for almost 30 weeks with twins! I am so glad the (GD) is under control with diet, that is so great to hear. Also, rest and try to get at least 5 more weeks in if you can. Those tiny little ones need it so much and every week from here on out is a blessing! Keep up the good work :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know you, but read your blog regularly and think you are such an inspiration!!! You look absolutely beautiful carrying twins as well :). I've never been pregnant with more than one child at a time, but with a short waist I've had a huge pregnant belly with all three pregnancies that itched from about 5 months on. The best luck I had to treat my itchy skin was called Sarna. It's an anti-itch lotion that seemed to help at least some. Also, all of my lotions helped a little bit more with the itchiness if I kept them in the fridge (sounds strange, but worked for me). Best of luck to you and your amazing family during the rest of your pregnancy!!! Thank you for helping me to be a better momma to my three children!

I second the cocoa butter!! Lather that right!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am also pregnant with twin boys, I am going on 34 weeks. Normally I don't comment but being pregnant with twins is a scary/happy/exciting ride! I also was told at 25 weeks that my cervix had shortened and was even funneling. They thought I could possibly go into labor but I am still hanging in there with no scary hospital visits. I even moved from Utah to Alabama. :) I just take it easy and try not to chase my 2 year old. He has been getting away with a lot but I would much rather keep these babes in for as long as possible. I haven't found anything I really like for the eachy stomach, it's awful isn't it? I just keep it lathered with tons of lotion and expose the big-ole belly to air as much as possible. My email is nathan.mindy@gmail.com if you ever want to talk about twins :)
ReplyDeleteI used oatmeal baths and oatmeal lotion and calamine lotion, Benadryl cream, bio oil, and aloe with lidocain all throughout and that was helpful for itchiness. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately received lots of stretch marks with after being pregnant first and then not much after that. My cervix is tilted so I quite literally carried my babies in only my tummy. Needless to say it stretched my then 120 pound frame a-lot! Oh well, I have my two handsome boys and the help of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Cream. Nothing can prevent stretch marks, however, lathering on cream can sustain the strong urge to itch which tends to make stretch marks worse; the more you itch. Also it helps to fade your stretch marks to more of your normal skin tone which helps to make them less visible. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteWow! You look absolutely gorgeous!! Cannot wait to see those sweet babies...
ReplyDeleteRelax and take it easy! Oh how I really dont miss those days of being pregnant with twins haha!! I delivered at 30 weeks emergency c-section. Keep those babies cooking. I remember feeling like I was way past 40 weeks pregnant but being at like 25 weeks hahaha!! I think your family is absolutely beautiful and I LOVE reading your blog. Just think your babies are preparing you for countless days of no sleep!
ReplyDeleteI have a short/incompetent cervix with funneling(cruel name if you ask me). I was on bedrest with my first and had a cerclage with my 2nd (night and day difference between the pregnancies). Aside from being up a lot (nearly impossible with a toddler), I would suggest getting a belly band/belt. It will help lift up your belly and take a lot of pressure off of your cervix. Also, accept help and lots of it. I'm sure you're thinking you're going to save it for after their born but you need it now too; and I'm sure you have more than enough family and friends that would be more than happy to help now and after their born. Take it easy and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI bought MamaMio for my daughters and neither one of them have any stretch marks! It really is amazing stuff. A little more expensive but worth it. I have used the post stretch mark lotion and it has lessened them quite a bit and my kids are in their twenties now. Good luck!
ReplyDeletethe best product I found for itchy belly during pregnancy was actually ice packs.
ReplyDeletewhere did you get your shirt?! I am in LOVE with it! You are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI actually got it last year at Old Navy. Thank you.
DeleteI am also 30 weeks pregnant with twins! I am having a lot of your similar symptoms (braxton hicks, pressure, baby A is super low). Also hoping to keep my babes cooking for a little longer! I've been using Bella B's tummy honey butter for stretch marks and it seems to be working pretty good, it also REALLY eases the itching for me! You can buy it at Sassy Babies in Bountiful, or online.
ReplyDeleteHi!! I just found your blog, am 29 weeks pregnant with twin boys and am loving everything here!! I've only read a little bit but cannot wait to get through the rest! I love all of the tips and tricks you offer! Beautiful boys <3
