May 17 – June 17
Cannon – is a happy little guy. He does his own thing and is very aware of both of his brothers, but especially Cruiz. He’s not shy around anyone, and likes to be acknowledged and then put down so he can explore (Very much like Preslee that way) He mimics sound very well and is very vocal. He just learned to wave and caught up to Cruiz and both have six teeth. He really has no desire to walk, and crawls like a speed demon around the house.
Cruiz – is really attached to me. If I don’t hold him enough he sits and whines, and sometimes has a hard time when I hold his brother. (But I make him endure it :) If I’m not around, everyone says he does fine and there isn’t an issue, but if I’m in the room, he’ll usually take turns going from me and Cannon. He’s walking along every piece of furniture he can find, and will definitely walk before Cannon. (He also crawled first) He’s quiet, really quiet, doesn’t talk much, and is often only aware of me and his twin brother. His grin will melt anyone’s heart, and his dimple is a little more noticeable than his brother’s.
Schedule - End of month nine we settled into a really great schedule. It took way too long due to colic, but now works really well for us.
Wake: 7:30ish
Breakfast: 8:00
Nap: Between 9:00 – 9:30
Wake:11:00 – 11:30
Lunch: 12:00
Nap: 1:30 – 2:00
Wake: 3:00
Dinner: 5:00
Bed: 6:00 – 6:30
These boys are hard work, but have seriously turned into great easy kids. Since letting them cry it out, they have turned into great sleepers. Ledger still gets a little over looked, so I try to feed them dinner while I’m cooking or before we eat, that enables Pat and I to eat with Ledger and enables us to focus on him. Pat usually takes the kids while I do the dishes, he gets to spend a little time with them before bed, and I actually enjoy putting up the baby gate and washing dishes by myself :)
Eating - Cannon finally learned to eat with two fingers, now Cruiz is faster, so he steals his food. Cannon was fine with it until about the middle of the month, and now starts screaming. Haha eat in bumbos, and now matter how far apart, scoot to each other. Eating almost everything we do. And we’re still working on getting them to take a sippy.
Diapers – We made it to the end of month 10 and then we ran out of diapers from the Baby Shower… (Can you believe they lasted that long? Such a blessing!) We’ve been so grateful for all those who have given us diapers, we can go through a box so quickly. Since the the boys sleep so long at night, we’ve had to buy night diapers for awhile now and Huggies are the only ones that really work for us. Target is my favorite brand of diapers with these two. I have changed more poopy diapers than I ever imagined. Since switching to nutramingen, they poop sooo much.
Hearing – The twins both passed their hearing test in the hospital, even though Cruiz failed once while there, they retested, and he passed. Shortly after being discharged we were sent to a specialist and both boys failed their tests. They had a very large amount of fluid in their ears. Well, we went back this month, my sweet Grandma Wightman came with me to help since I couldn’t take both boys back in the testing room.
Cruiz went first. He didn’t pass the tests. We then moved into a small enclosed room where a sound would come on, (not very loud) and then a toy would light up and move. The sound would condition them to look for the toy. Cruiz only heard a couple of times, and never really figured out there would be a toy after the noise. I thought he might be young to figure it all out, and didn’t think much, and went to get Cannon.
Cannon passed his separate tests at the beginning, but just barely. When placed in the enclosed room he heard every sound and caught on within seconds. It became very obvious that Cruiz had a hearing problem while watching Cannon. I talked to the Dr. afterward and he explained he was referring me to an ENT, and his guess is they would put tubes in Cruiz’s ears, and that it would probably fix the problem.
