Pat walked through the door Friday evening and said, “Let’s go.” The thought of not having to cook dinner made me move faster than I have in months, and I was the first one out the door. We pulled through Wendy’s drive-thru and then parked in front of Pat’s dad’s house, who lives on a golf course. We piled into Dorsie’s golf cart and I couldn’t help but grin as I listened to Ledger squeal with delight while simultaneously stuffing chicken nuggets into his mouth.
I drove while Pat played 9 holes, and Ledger split his time between the two of us. It was a perfect night, spending time outdoors, watching Pat introduce Ledger to the game he loves, with a beautiful Idaho sunset in the background.
While I watched my two matching boys play, I realized these are the moments I’m going to miss. With twins on the way, life is about to change…and hopefully in a couple of years we’ll be able to replay Friday night, the only difference will be Pat will have two more crazy boys to chase around.
So cute!!! I love watching toddlers run, it's the cutest.
ReplyDeleteMy sis in law just had twin boys...seriously the CUTEST and most fun thing to have twins around...but I'm not crazy to know it's not a lot of work!! She has a 3 yr old and a 19month old...and twin newborns!! But I just wanted to pipe in to tell you...she's doing amazing with it. And while I'm sure it's not always rosey...she's prioritizing the important stuff, letting go of some of the control of the unimportant stuff and still getting out OFTEN! And she has two toddlers with two babies...and not even a single double stroller...yet. I don't say this to make you feel bad, but to give you hope that you will go on the go still and get out and hopefully it won't be too tough for you of course WITH help. =) I'm sure the hormones and sleeplessness will creep in and make life hard at times, especially as you miss Preslee, but I sure hope this change is a big LIGHT and ray of sunshine for your deserving little family. I wanted so bad for you to get a girl...I'm sure you did too. I have 3 boys and one girl...it's such a unique and special bond with the girl. But my last is a boy and while I wanted so bad for him to be a sister for my daughter...it's been a lot of fun having him and bonding with him just the same.
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck and enjoying reading your journey!!
oh my heck he is the cutest! i loved his little squeals at the beginning and the end!
