We left Idaho early in the morning and drove the 3 1/2 hour drive to SLC, UT.
We checked into our hotel, changed a diaper and drove straight to RC Willey. We made the biggest purchases since we’ve been married, we bought couches! I’m still so excited, and counting down the days until they are delivered. Ledger met Santa for the first time too… Needless to say, he really loved it.
We ate at Tucanos, which was amazing. Tucanos is a Brazilian grill, where they bring grilled meats and vegetables, and don’t forget the pineapple to your table. Last time we went, I was sick and pregnant, and the sight of meat made me want to vomit, so this time around was much much better.
We did a little Christmas shopping at City Creek, a new mall in SLC. It was our first time there, and it’s beautiful. Ledger loved the fountains. We ran into Pat’s Dad and Step mom there.
We visited Temple Square to see the lights. We bought hot chocolate that burnt our tongues and hands, which is part of the experience right? Ledger loved the lights, anytime he gets excited, I get even more excited :) We stopped by Deseret Book, and as we were walking in I literally ran into my Dad. What are the odds? Both my parents, and Pat’s Dad and Stepmom were there to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in concert.
Choo choo!
Ringing the bell.
Ledge showed dad his sweet swimming moves in the freezing cold pool. Mom was a wimp and took pics from the hot tub.
This definitely is one of the best traditions we’ve started. It gives us something to look forward to each year, rather than dreading Preslee’s Birthday. It gives Pat and I time to talk in the car, reminisce about her, and we can’t wait to teach our kids about the meaning of the Temple in the future.
So lovely that you could spend her birthday doing something so special and fun. That's the best way to remember I think :)
ReplyDeleteloved reading your post ash! what a great time you guys had in SLC. The lights are so beautiful. I never understand why hotel pools have to be so chilly, they need to heat them : ) Im glad it was a nice time for you guys, celebrating Presley's weekend!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this idea. You are so amazing...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun trip! And I am so excited to see your new couches and so happy for you! I love making big purchases like that just because it makes my house look so different and makes me feel all grown up :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post!! What fun things to do! And running into your parents! Awesome! And always...love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat is such an awesome tradition. I love it. And I will always celebrate Preslee's birthday in my heart as Icelebrate Brady's.
ReplyDeleteWe made a tradition of celebrating Nate's bday at Disney each year. It's hard to be sad at Disney (although it's a bittersweet day). We prefer to try and make it a happy day rather than sitting at the yucky cemetary and crying.
Hugs,
Trisha
I love that you do this - what a nice tradition! Great pics!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! That is crazy you ran into both sets of parents! What are the odds? Ledger looks like he had a blast! I love that you guys do this every year. What fun memories you're making with the little guy. Love you guys!
