Ledge went to the Doctor yesterday, and after looking down his nose and throat, we decided surgery is the best route to go. We scheduled it for next Wednesday, the 17th. We realize it will be a rough recovery, but we're ready to have him breathing better, especially during the night.
Ledger will have his tonsils and adenoids removed, along with a turbinate reduction.
Thanks again for all your comments a month ago, they helped us make our decision!
Many of you say he'll be a whole new kid...watch out, I can't imagine him with any more energy than he already has.
Hope all goes well! I think it will benefit him not just now, but he will be grateful to have had it done in his future. He would only run into more problems as he gets older! I wish I had mine taken out when I was a child, cause an adult recovery was much worse!
ReplyDeleteMy son had this done a year ago, he was 4, and it helped him a lot. Prayers are coming your way.
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn had her tonsils, and adenoids taken out about three months ago, and tubes placed. I cannot tell you how much BETTER it has been! Especially at night!! :) Stock up on applesauce, that's all she would eat for me! I even got the cool looking popsicles!... I was forced to eat them.. haha. Best of luck and I'm sure everything will go great!
ReplyDeleteAll 3 of my kids had it done last year. Each one of them has been SO much better, hardly sick and breathing better is always a good thing. You will be so glad you did it. Praying all goes well! XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteI commented on your last post about turbinates reduction and adnoids/tonsils out. My son will be having this exact surgery on the 17th as well. I've heard the same thing, that he'll be a whole new kid. Although, I've heard that it will help calm him down a bit and help him be a little less emotional/sensitive. Good luck to you guys! :o)
ReplyDeleteSurgry is a hard things to put your child through, but my son had everything done that you are having done to Ledger and it has been the best thing we could have done for him. He is a much happier and healthier kid. I totaly agree the younger the better on this surgery. If your son loves apple juice you should buy it by the gallons, that is all Wiley would drink for two weeks! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter who is 2 1/2 is having tonsils, adenoids, and new tubes in her ears this Friday in Twin. I'm a little nervous but ready for it to be over with. She has some of the same issues as your little guy. I just keep thinking that it's better to do it when they're young so they won't remember it. Good luck with your kiddo!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's fast! Here it takes MONTHS to schedule any surgery! I am praying all goes well!
ReplyDeleteI thought of you today as I took my little girl and we came to the same conclusion. Her surgery is on Friday morning. I definitely think it is for the best. She is 3 1/2, and it is starting to affect her hearing and speech, so we're glad to get it done now.
ReplyDeleteIf Ledger is like me, he will love the hustle and bustle. When I had these surgeries, it was a very fun experience for me and I had a VERY short time before I was back to my normal routine and foods. Wishing all goes well!!
ReplyDeleteMy son had his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes as well. He had sleep apnea at night. We had him tested and everything, he would wake up and just scream. He was 19 months before we had a full night sleep. He would also eat with his mouth open and just chomp, the doctor explained that while eating he could not breathe. This was all such a new thing to me. He does not have any more ear aches, and no more sleeping problems.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to scare you, but I wish I had known....He passed out five times the day he got his tonsils and adenoids removed. We were so scared...the first time he passed out, I thought the worst. The doctors explained that his throat hole went from a size of a straw to a size of a garden hose....he was getting used to all the air!!! He is almost 5, and doing well.
Good luck!!!
My brother-in-law was a whole new kid when he has his out. :) And for his first Christmas after getting them out, all he wanted was a jar of mayo, because he could finally taste things!! :)
ReplyDeletewill keep you and lil Ledger in my prayers for next week. You will be happy to have it all behind you and have him breathing better. :)
ReplyDeleteMy son did not have the turbinate part of that surgery but he did have his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes in his ears at age 3. After many many ear infections, it helped. He had tubes again at age 5. He did well with the surgery and was good as new within two or three days. I will say a little prayer for Ledger that he will do well and be able to breathe much better when it is over. The mouth heals quickly, by the way. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteMy little guy will be having the same surgery next Tuesday at Primary Children's hospital. He's nearly two and has slept about a month of full nights in his life. I'm hoping and praying that this will help, but a little freaked out because he is so young. Good luck to you and Ledger. I look forward to an update from you so that I know what to expect for next week. :)
