Every six months, the LDS church holds General Conference in SLC, UT; where our Prophet, Apostles, and other church leaders speak world wide to all the members and anyone interested in hearing their words. This conference I was blown away by the doctrine and truth that was shared, and for whatever reason, I felt an urgency to begin working on a few different areas in my life. I decided it's time to stop making excuses for myself, and get to work.
The week before conference, there was a special broadcast for the women of the church. And after attending that broadcast, and listening to all four sessions of general conference, I noticed many speakers mentioned the trial of losing a child. Elder Shayne M. Bowen shared his own story of losing his son Tyson, and his experience with grief. I'm often asked what my beliefs are about death, and I felt his words beautifully explained my own feelings and everything I've been taught.
The moment I heard his talk, I immediately thought of you and sweet Preslee. You're a remarkable person, Ashley. May God always bless you. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh Ashley, I thought of you the entire time during this talk. You are such an amazingly strong person. I admire you so much.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you many times throughout conference!
ReplyDeleteI am often inspired by your testimony as you share your personal feelings and experiences with us. You have such a strong spirit and as I listened to this talk on Saturday, I was thinking of you. Thank you for sharing the Gospel with us all.

ReplyDeleteThis was a wonderful talk and so many of us thought of you while he was speaking. (Did you know he's from Idaho Falls?) You guys are amazing and we all look up to you. :) (By the way, my cousin is Haily Murri! She told me you guys are buddies!)
ReplyDeleteI too, listened to that talk and thought of you and a few other friends who have lost a precious child. So thankful for the gospel and the TRUTHS found in it that bring us peace and understanding.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you while he was speaking. I can't even imagine the loss both of you have experienced. I'm glad you have people who actually do relate to you as I hope it eases the pain some. Hopefully your posting this will help someone else who is suffering.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you during this talk. You are so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI cried for you and so many more during this talk and couldn't believe it! I'm sure that it was an answer to many who prayed to hear God's love to them.
ReplyDeleteI am not mormon but I am just watching the conference, because I have had interest in wanting to know about being mormon and wanting more information! One of my best friends is mormon and told me about the conference. As soon as Elder Shayne M. Bowen started talking about losing a child, I immediately went to your page to see if you wrote something about it because the first thing I thought of was you and your family. I have never posted on your blog, but I have followed you for a long while now. You are a brave and courageous mother, and I love following you and your family. Your children are absolutely adorable.
ReplyDeleteFollow your blog from here in Syracuse, Utah. I was thinking about you the entire time while listening to this talk. Thinking about you and your adorable family
ReplyDeleteI thought of your sweet little family while listening to this talk. Truly a talk inspired by God.
ReplyDeleteI was 5 years old when Tyson died and for some reason I still remember it so vividly. Shayne's wife and my mom grew up together and were best friends. They are such great people, just like you and Patrick.
ReplyDeleteI too thought of you during this talk! You people who have to go through losing a child are truly amazing! I am constantly inspired by you Ashley!
