While Pat was away visiting Detroit, (post coming later) Ledger and I stayed at my parent's house for a couple of days.
Friday, Grandma took both of us to the zoo. Ledger rode his first ride, and kept a straight face, with his little mouth open the entire time.
Friday night, Ledger experienced his very first Madison Football game. At half time, we ran to the car as a massive rainstorm hit. It was pure chaos, and Ledger left terrified.
Saturday afternoon, we made a trip to Porter Park to play at the splash park, park toys, and ride the carousel...twice (lucky boy). While we were there, I realized I've avoided this place like the plague, because of the memories I have there. I would have never dreamed the pictures my friend Chelsea took of Preslee on the carousel, would end up on the cover of the program at her funeral.

I'm not going lie, it hurt being there. I kept thinking how there should be a 3 1/2 year old little girl on the horse next to her little brother. How Ledger should have an older sister to show him how to play on the toys, splash him with water, and swing next to on the swings.
As hard as it was, I put my feelings aside to deal with later, and tried to make the most of it with Sledge Hammer.
I'm beyond grateful to be a mom of two very loving kids.
Love you both - more than you'll ever know.

LOVE! You have two very lucky kids! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteHey Ashley, I'm just a blog follower. You know, those two carousel pictures took me by surprise. If you cover up the left side of you with Preslee, it looks like she is in the picture with you and Ledger, riding the horse right behind you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Courtney - two very lucky little kids. It must be very hard to go to places that bring back such wonderful memories of your Preslee. You are brave and strong to go there anyway so that Ledger can experience those same fun things. Preslee knows you love her and the love transcends this time and place to that beautiful perfect place where she waits patiently when you will all be together as a family forever. Until then, stay strong. One day little Ledger will come to realize how much of an impact his sister has had not only on his parents and him but for many of us who see the goodness that Preslee brought out in so many people. It made us stop in our tracks to realize how precious and wonderful life is. Thanks for sharing your story and little pieces of your life. Your blog speaks volumes about your gospel-centered life and your faith and trust in the Savior. Good on Ya!!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great observation! She was totally there with you Ashley! You are such a great mama and a very strong willed woman! Keep it up! :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy goodness he's getting big. I wish we could just push a pause button sometimes on life and just enjoy them little (only some days :) ) Looks like Mr. Ledger has a twin that he may only be able to see and everyone else gets to feel.
