Last week, Pat and both sets of parents were able to fly to Memphis to support Kash who was graduating from optometry school. They all stayed for about a week and had a lot of fun! We don't get to see Kash and Cara very often, so Pat loved staying at their house and just hanging out. I think he may have loved playing with our nephew Hudson even more! Way to go Kash, we're very proud of you and excited for you and Cara to start your next chapter in life which hopefully brings you a little closer to home!
While Pat was vacationing in warm weather, I was able to escape myself for the weekend with my friend Candee and cousin Tiana. We drove to Utah and went shopping. Tiana and I attracted a lot of stares as we waddled around the stores together. Candee was a good sport with walking slow and stopping for a lot of bathroom breaks. The majority of the purchases were for our children, but I did splurge on some cute capris in hopes of motivating me to lose the baby weight :)
Shopping in Utah is an extremely different experience than shopping here in Idaho. The stores have just as much boy clothing as they do girls, which isn't really the case around here. We went crazy in Carter's and hit up some good sales. The trip was good for me, to be honest I've struggled a little giving up the girl's dresses, bows, and everything that I loved about having a girl. But finding cute outfits for Ledger left me really excited for a boy.

We're down to a month, but I'm hoping he decides to come a little bit early! We have everything we need and will now be anxiously awaiting his arrival.

ReplyDeleteYou are lookin' super good Ash!! I'm way stoked for you!! Little boys are seriously the greatest!! They LOVE their Mama's! Yay for only 1 more month!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were both able to escape for a bit. It's needed now and then. :) I bet you cannot wait to see your baby in your arms. Congrats! Soon enough he'll be here! I have both a boy and girl I've learned that hats and shoes are the best accessories for boys. :) You'll just be so much love with him. It's different..a different experience but a good one.

I'm the opposite - I'm overwhelmed with all the girl things I have to buy! Boys are much simpler :) But boys do love their momma's and you'll have a little shadow forever! Thanks for letting Pat come out and I love the present you got me too - everything I needed! I hope he comes early for you - I'm probably going to get induced a week early - on the 21st so only 3 more weeks, so crazy!!!! We can do it!!
ReplyDeleteCarters is the best store for little boy clothes! Glad you were able to stock up on some clothes for Ledger (cute name!). Also, I'm your 1000th follower and feel pretty awesome right now because of that {actually YOU should feel pretty awesome for having 1000 followers! Congrats!}.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's only a month away! I'm glad you were able to have a little girl while Pat was gone. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! Can't wait to see Ledger!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to meet you and Patrick in person yesterday! Good luck in the upcoming weeks hanging in there!

I've been following your blog for awhile now. I don't know how it is to have a girl but I do have a 18 month boy and I can tell you that they are fun to have and you will just love having a little man around. It's also fun to see your husband and son bond over all the manly stuff :)
ReplyDeleteI have followed you since a day or two after Preslee's accident. I have sat and cried everyday, and I am beyond impressed with your faith and courage. Thank you for being an example to so many people. I was a little interested when you said Pat was in Memphis, because I had a cousin that just graduated too. Sure enough, that is him in second photo. Good Luck with this coming month, I hope everything goes smoothly for you!!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog since about 2 weeks after you lost your sweet little Preslee. I love it and I love you! You are so inspiring and I so admire you, you're husband, and you're faith.
ReplyDeleteI was also at the Brick Oven in Layton on the 20th. It was my mother's birthday and we met there as a family (just the adults) for dinner. You walked right by our table on your way to the salad bar, and I gasped right out loud when I saw you! :) My dad, who was sitting next to me heard me and asked me what was wrong.... so I proceeded to tell him who you were.
I wanted to give you a big hug. However, I understand I am a stranger to you, yet I feel like I know who you are... so I spared you my drama and tears (since I knew I would surely cry.)
As I sat there and told my Dad about your story, he was in awe, and mentioned how he would have never guessed... how we never know what kind of battle every stranger, (and sometimes even friends) are facing every day.
So glad you had a great time with good friends and that you are able to find some moments of happiness amongst your deepest sorrows.
Lots of love... even from a stranger. :)
Girl! That is SO wild. I was just at the very same Babys R Us, shopping for my next baby boy, after our last baby boy past away...... and.... I also sat in the VERY same rocker, and laughed because my butt sank in so slow I felt like I was sitting on the ground..... Best wishes for you. Life will never be the same, you will never be the same, I'm still not 2+ years later. I think of you often (from Provo).

You're looking beautiful! I actually saw you guys in Chick Filet at lunch but since you don't really know my I didn't want to run up and say hi! I could have said Hey! I'm James and Sara Howell's sister but still, awckward... Anyways, I love reading your blog and you've inspired me in so many ways!
