We make our own ice blocks and the ice machine has been sitting in my parents garage for the past five years. It's been a hassle not to have it close by. With the high gas prices and my dad wanting his garage back, we decided its time to move it to our house. Pat and my dad have been building a shed to put the machine in. Pat has loved using a nail gun and all the other power tools. He came in after the first day with a big grin on his face and said, "You're dad's teaching me how to be a man."
They've been working hard after work and just have to build a door and lay some linoleum. The electrician will come this week and hopefully we'll have some electricity to run the machine and it will be finished! I'm actually really impressed with it. I was a little worried when they were googling how to build a shed, but my dad knew more than I thought he did :)
The result after the first day.
Second day putting up the walls.
Pat shingling the roof.
Close to being finished! Thanks to the Hoffman's from my dad's ward and Dorsie for helping out, we really appreciate it!
Then it's on to the next adventure of actually moving the machine. It freezes 24 ice blocks at one time, so it is large, heavy, and will be very interesting. :) I'm sure we'll be missing Rhett's strength. When we told him about all the projects we've taken on since he's been gone, he seemed very pleased to be in Brazil. At the end of this month it will be his year mark. One down, one more to go!
YUMMY! Now I'm craving Shaved Ice:) I guess that's one thing thats great about being pregnant in the summer!
ReplyDeleteHUCKLEBERRY is my FAVORITE FLAVOR IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!! I am SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have like no access to stuff with that flavor here on the west coast because it's so far removed from where huckleberries grow and they're not very well known here. ARGH! I am so jealous!!
