Who wouldn't want to spend their days reading picture books and eating Penguin pie (aka DQ dilly bars) That's what we did in the classroom today :) A cute little lesson on penguins.
Time is flying by and I find myself in the middle of my 4th week of student teaching. (Only 9 more to go) I completely lucked out with my coordinating teacher. She's wonderful and I'm learning more than I would have expected each and every day. Click here to visit our class blog and see what we've been up to.
I'm slowly getting the hang of 1st grade. It's been a huge adjustment, but I'm loving it more each day. Who wouldn't want valentines delivered to your desk in January? Who wouldn't want to sing songs about different subjects? (I'm getting better with this one, I'm not at all musically gifted) And most of all, who wouldn't want to hear every single option of what Pat and I could possibly name our baby. Speaking of that here's my favorite conversation of the day-
One of the girls walked up and startled me with kiss on my stomach. With a serious look and voice she said, "When you and your husband go on a honeymoon, make sure to drop the baby off at my house. Don't worry, I learned how to hold one." She then acted as if she was rocking a baby.
And speaking of pregnancy, one week from today I have an appointment to find out what we're having! Pat's betting on boy, I'm thinking girl... we'll let you know when we find out!
That's too funny! I cant wait to hear what ur having!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the teacher so much. I bet it's pretty entertaining to hear what come out of 1st graders mouths. I can't believe you only have 1 week left! Yay! I can't wait to hear what you are having.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! So happy for you in all you are doing right now - makes me miss teaching :-) Can't wait to hear what you are having :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest conversation ever. I'm glad you're starting to like it more and more because I am too. Who knows, when we leave we never want to do anything but first grade! Miss you!
ReplyDeleteseriously...first graders are the BEST!!! I did my senior practicum and student teaching in first grade (how weird is that...Dr. Duque wasn't very happy...haha). I hope you are having so much fun! If you need any ideas, let me know I have a huge box full of first grade ideas.
ReplyDeletehahaha thats a very sweet conversation. Did you tell her that she can only watch the baby on your "honeymoon" if you can come visit every few hours and nurse the baby. haha Sounds like so much fun! Glad to hear it! It'll be fun to hear what you are having.
ReplyDeleteI want a DQ dilly bar now! :) I bet the 1st graders are HUGE blessings in your life everyday!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what the little "bump" is! :)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! found your blog through a friend, I'm due around the same time as you are, June 26th so I will be finding out what I am having in a week or so also! YAY! My husband and I are the same as you guys, he things boy, I'm thinking PINK! We also have a little girl, Wren who is 21 months old, I believe this is about how old your sweet angel Preslee would be now? I am so sorry for your loss, I remember hearing about her passing on the news. I love how trusting in the Lord that you and your family have been. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you and want you to know that if you need to talk or anything else, even though I am a stranger I would be more than happy to listen. Good luck on your pregnancy, I am excited to hear what you will be having! -Shauna
ReplyDeleteDilly Bars, love those things. I worked at a DQ a 100 years ago; loved them then, love them now. And don't kids say the funniest things, I love them because they speak from their heart!

ReplyDeleteGlad life is keeping you busy and you find joy in being with those darling little school children. Kids say the darndest things but always tell us the truth. That story made me laugh out loud. I'm sure everyone who knows you personally or through your blog are overjoyed you are having your baby. We are all excited to hear the news - boy or girl?? I continue to think of you often and pray for you and your husband. You seem like such a caring and loving person who has had to do many "hard things" but I think you have and will continue to do a lot of good things too. Preslee is very proud you are her mother for eternity.....A friend in SLC, Mary

ReplyDeleteIt is the fun days like that where it is awesome to be a teacher. I remember thinking "Is this really my job that I get paid for? It's so fun!" Glad you are liking 1st grade. I've always been scared by 1st grade!! It was nice seeing you guys over the break. Good luck with your student teaching!
ReplyDeleteOh ya and I laughed at all the name suggestions you've been getting. I had SO many from my students- most being their own names or variations of their names!
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of last year when I did my student teaching in first grade! I was also pregnant and the kids were just so adorable! They loved having a pregnant teacher. I even had one boy poke my belly and say "what's that?" I told him it was a baby and his eyes got so big and he said "a REAL baby?" Oh wow...
ReplyDeleteThey are so fun! I loved first grade! Sounds like you are having fun. Enjoy the next 9 weeks with them. I am excited for you to find out what you are having. I find myself getting on your blog to see how you are doing. You are simply an amazing person!
Haha.. Oh my goodness, that is so hilarious! I bet that conversation with that girl made your day!
