The internet is amazing. Simply amazing. Without it, learning to deal with losing Preslee would have been drastically different. We've been able to come in contact with so many great couples who have walked in our shoes. They've contacted us and shown their love and support, it's given us something to aim for. There are a few women who have given me hope...that it will be alright again. I've watched how they've handled the intense grief and heartache that comes from burying a child and I've set goals to become like them. They've made the best of their situations and have blogged about their journey.
One of the couples is Vic and Molly Jackson. They lost their daughter Lucy, their only child at the time a couple months before her 2nd Birthday. Below is the short documentary BYUtv made on their family. You'll also see the Saville family from Pocatello who lost their little Gabriel the same week we lost Preslee.
I wanted to share the video to let others know they created A Good Grief which is a website to help people with grieving. The website also takes donations to help family's pay for children's headstones. We know how expensive headstones are and feel grateful we've had help of our own. As I watched this video I of course cried. The hospital was a very emotional place for our family and I hate that others have to experience similar things to what we went through. But to see where they are today, and what they have accomplished is inspiring.
Thank you for sharing this video, Ashley. I knew about Molly and Vic's story before Preslee's accident, and I'm glad that you've been able to connect with them.

Thank you so much for posting this video!! It is just what I needed today to remember what is truly important.
ReplyDeleteThis was great! I'm glad you've found comfort in her website. I just gave a friend of mine yours and hers website cause her sister lost her baby 1 week before she was full term. I know it is a slightly different loss than yours, but still a loss. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI heard about Molly's story. What an incredible woman. Thanks for sharing the video. Know that you are one of those incredible women too. You really do inspire so many of us.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's probably hard to read through other people's experiences, especially when it hits so close to home, but I just wanted to share one more amazing woman's story with you, in hope that it helps you somehow. I know her story has made me think of a lot of things and changed me for the better. Hope it does for you too.

She is a fantastic writer and lost her 1 year old daughter a few years ago and now has another little girl.
Very precious video. So many good people in the world. And the amazing thing is that you know that you will see your little Preslee again, and because you do, the Light of Christ is spread far and wide. God bless.

What amazing and beautiful people! Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love your class blog too! I borrowed the spelling word helps the other day to use with one of my boys who is struggling. He loved it! Thank you so much for all you do!
Much love!
Wow. That video was so beautiful. Thanks for always sharing such wonderful messages.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful video. It speaks volumes. "Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God,......that ye may have eternal life—"
ReplyDeleteI stand in awe of you young people who have had to endure such a loss. May the Lord bless and keep you. Please know many of us out there are praying for you and your family. The little angel children in heaven must be very proud of their parents.
This video is so sweet! Thanks for sharing, you amaze me everyday and hope you know you are in my thoughts and prayers always. I have been thinking a lot about the big news and keep reminding Kip that you are finding out soon! :) can't wait!
ReplyDeleteDid you know Molly is from Rexburg? I don't know her but we have a lot of mutual friends (kinda like us ~ but not really since I do know you) anyways she's a great writer. Also I just saw your pic on one of my favorite teacher blogs! I'm so jealous! What an awesome teaching experience for you. Hope it's going well. Don't you just melt over all the love notes from first graders?
ReplyDeleteMy friend sent me your blog today and said I had to read it. I have been married 25 years, thought I was pretty confident in my understanding of the gospel. I have older children and younger children. Our younger children are adopted and I think of them as my tender mercies. I am a better person and hopefully a better mom after having spent a half an hour reading your blog. I am not a blogger but I thank people like you who are, who uplift and share their testimonies with the world. May the Lord bless you for all the wonderful good you do and have done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this video. My daughter sent me the link to your web site several months ago and I have so enjoyed reading it. Our precious son, Joshua, died 22 years ago at the age of 11 and grief issues are close to my heart and always of interest. Congratulations on the new baby coming. We had one more baby after Josh died and that big guy is now serving the Lord as a missionary in Madagascar.
ReplyDeleteWOW! that is all i have to say!
ReplyDeleteHi, I dont know if you remember me, I lived in Nauvoo the same time you did. I don't know if we ever actually met, but I read about your blog on a friends blog and I wanted you to know how sorry I am about your loss and how much I have learned from everything you have written! I love reading your blog and I think about the things you say for hours after. I love how you are spreading the gospel through your blog and your experiences. Thank you SO much for sharing! I was wondering if you heard about the new mormon.org, you should go on there and get a profile, you would be able to help even more people! If you ever need anything or maybe even another vacation, I live in North Carolina and you have somewhere to stay if you guys ever need to get away! Thansk again.
