I held my daughter today. She looked up at me, the stress in her eyes left and she fell asleep... she looked more peaceful than she ever has in her entire life.
Last post my Aunt explained how well her body is healing. It is healing wonderfully and they let me wash her hair, fix it up, and put a little pink bow in it.
The neck brace is off and she looks like my little Preslee again. But today has been a rough day. Her brain is swelling, it should be at it's climax. They warned us it would be tough day for her. She was less attentive, and didn't respond to us. That's the problem with brain damage. Her body will most likely heal just fine, we are all focusing on her brain and there is no way to measure anything. We just have to wait and see. She's still in critical condition. The road will be pretty bumpy from here on out.
Even though times are tough, Heavenly Father answers prayers through many people. Again we thank you for all of your sweet comments and thoughts, and even more importantly your prayers. When times get tough we turn on the computer and read he comments. We know your prayers are making a difference and feel them constantly. We believe in miracles and a sweet man named Matt Staker came and dropped in. His son drowned 5 months ago and went through everything we have been through. He beat the odds and a miracle was performed. (Youtube Bronson's Miracle to see their story) It was a blessing for us, but especially for Pat to talk to someone who knew what we were going through. They gave us so much hope, and we pray that we can experience the same outcome as their sweet little Bronson did.
We know there are angels watching over Preslee at this difficult time. We love her and are praying for a miracle. C'mon monkey, you can do it!
Ash, she is so beautiful! She is on amazing little girl! We love you and are praying our hearts out for you're family. Thank you for the updates!!
ReplyDeleteI heard your story today and we will pray for your little one
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful mother Ashley! Still praying for all of you. Enjoy holding your sweet baby.
ReplyDeleteAshley, I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet little Preslee! I can't stop thinking about you and your sweet little family. Just know you're in my thoughts and prayers! and by the way, she looks PERFECT in those pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe best feeling in the world is to hold your baby when you couldn't for so long... You've got this Pres. Pull through it. We're rooting for you and so are the many angels that attend your bedside every day and night. Bronson was there when we were there back in Feb. and look at him now, Miracles happen and thousands of prayers are offered in Preslee's behalf. We love you
ReplyDelete"Blessings" is exactly right, Ashley! Thank you, Thank you for posting this. We've been refreshing your blog every 5 minutes in hopes for a new post.. You've made our night with these precious pictures! What a darling little girl. Again, we love you guys and sweet little Pres. Keep holding strong! We continue to pray throughout each day for Preslee and her little brain to heal. Our prayers are also with you, Pat, and the rest of your family! Love you!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Ashley, you guys are so strong. I have tears rolling down my face. I'm so glad you got to hold that precious little girl. ReplyDeleteI just heard about your daughter today. She is absolutely precious! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! And it was an awesome update, that is so great you got to hold her and talk to someone who knows what you are feeling. You guys are awesome examples!
ReplyDeleteWe are praying and thinking about you constantly. Brain injuries are so hard because there is nothing to do but wait. But while you wait, write everything you feel, hear and see and take tons of pictures. When Mikael had his stroke and was at PCMC for the four weeks, I wrote and later I was so grateful for it. We are grateful for the updates! No matter what the Lord is in charge and He loves you and Preslee. As a mother, I began to realize that even the little improvements were miracles.
ReplyDeleteI just heard about your story today. Your little angel is the same age as my son and sweet Preslee's story has certainly pulled tightly on my heart strings. I cannot imagine being in your position as parents. Your hearts must be breaking. Years ago I watched my big sister suffer a brain injury and sat by her hospital bed as she was in a coma for 6 weeks. From that experience I have learned that our Heavenly Father watches over each and every one of his children, and although we may not find the reason in what happens, he knows the plan, and for me that is enough. Trust in him and he will carry you. I will pray for Preslee and for your family.
ReplyDeleteAsh,the picture of you holding preslee is so precious I couldn't hold back the tears. You are such a amazing person and a person with such strong faith. I love you, and you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteAshley,
ReplyDeleteI followed Candee's posts and read about what you are going through. I am also thinking about you and praying for you and your sweet baby. The way that you seem to be handling this is really incredible - what an inspiration. And Preslee..what a fighter! Stay strong. Kathy Powell

We Love you all..Tanner wants to come to Uath and is Very Upset that Im not with you---LOL that kid!! So we bought a snowcone and now he is sleeping.. Praying for you and sending well wishes...
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard it would be to watch your own child go through something like this! I pray for a complete recovery for her. I know I have heard of many many miracles in these types of circumstances, especially when it happens to young children.
ReplyDeleteMy brother was 18 when had a serious accident with head injuries. His brain was swelling for a week and we all feared what was going to happen, but he also made an amazing recovery with no noticable brain damage. I know there is sooooo much hope for your little girl too.
We are so happy to see that you were able to hold her. We are praying for Preslee and you are all in our thoughts continually.

ReplyDeleteWe met Candy (Kandy?) and watered the lawn. Everything looks fine. I love that she is able to be "unwired" so you can hold her and love her. Stay strong and know that the Atonement was to help with sorrows too - let Him lift you, I know He will. Love ya!
ReplyDeleteThe power the Mother has on a child right! I am sure it gave her strength for you to have the oppurtunity to hold her. I bet when she sees you and her daddy is when she is trying the hardest! I am so glad you were able to hold her! Love you Ash! You can do it sweet preslee!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what to say. This pictures are bittersweet to me, they break my heart but what a blessing. She is beautiful and I know she is still here for a reason, such a strong little girl. I am continually praying, my son asked me why I was crying the other day and I told him (as he has prayed also for Pres) he looked at me so sincerely and with a smile and just said don't worry mommy it's going to be ok, what faith for a 3 year old to say that. I know he's right, the Lord will take care of you and he loves you and is holding all of you right now.
ReplyDeleteI found your story through Tiffany Jenkins blog ... I will hold Sweet Preslee in my prayers!!! Hooray for holding her, I have spent several days in the hospital with my son for various reasons and I have found holding him to be the best medicine for he as well as I!
ReplyDeleteWishing Preslee a speedy recovery!

ReplyDeletePat & Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI am a good friend of Alisha and Dustin...when I heard of the tragic news I couldn't help but pray for you and your daughter. You are in our thoughts and prayers constantly. I have a little girl of my own (16 months) and I held her a little longer today...spent more time with her reading books and just focusing my time on the now. Life teaches us lessons in ways we don't understand, but know that God is aware and will never leave you. He has angels watching over little Preslee. Our Savior Jesus Christ loves us and I know he suffered so we can be eternal families. Take comfort that no matter the trial you are forever a family. We love you and pray for you. Take care...

ReplyDeleteYou don't know us, but we are friends with Ryan and Kim Jensen and my in-laws are good friends of Dorsi and Terry (Mark and Vickie Jensen). Our hearts go out to both of you and your sweet little girl. You are in our prayers. Our daughter had her bottom lip bit conpletely off by our horse a few years ago and the doctor was able to put it back on, and after a long month of being out of school and putting her in the hyperbaric chamber everyday for a month, she look s great. We had people of all faiths and all over the place and as far as California praying for her. We firmly believe in miracles through the power of prayer and know that your little one can pull through this. We have Ryan keeping us posted and will keep you in our daily prayers. I feel so connected to your story - I have a daughter just two months older than your Preslee, and I have another daughter who is 6 months old, named Preslie. We also lived in Rexburg for 4 years with our little family and I just so feel for you. I'm sorry this has happened to your little girl and I wish there was a magic wand that could just make it all go away!
ReplyDeleteMy older sister and her husband drowned 3 1/2 years ago in Utah and while it was awful, it was so comforting to know how much Heavenly Father loves and cares about us. To truly see that in action. I know He is very aware of you and your family and all that is happening with Preslee. We will pray her brain swelling will go down and she'll return to absolute normal!
Good luck, and know that we all love and pray for you.
We are keeping you in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteMy heart hurts for you all!! I will pray that Preslee's brain heals. My husband had brain damage and after 2 years you would not know it, if you meet him today. Keep the faith and keep fighting.

ReplyDeleteNichole Eve (Clark)
I am praying for your beautiful little girl!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter, Katie, is exactly one year older and suffered a serious brain injury after contracting Meningitis as an infant. I know there are lots of success stories both here and all over the web, about amazing recoveries and no brain damage in the end. I wanted to let you know that even if she has damage to her brain (once you get an MRI and she's stable), she can still recover and heal. My little girl has severe diffuse damage to her entire brain. Although it is as a result of Meningitis, the damage would be the same as near drowning...hypoxia or lack of oxygen. We were told by all of the "experts" that she wouldn't do anything, including see, hear, talk or even have awareness of her surroundings. She is now 2.5, talking, running, playing and just an amazing little ball of energy. Her doctors can't explain it or understand why she is able to do these things. Although I still have lots of worries and there are things she needs some help with, there is still so much hope even after a heart breaking diagnoses of brain injury. You can find our story on our blog once you're back on your PC.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Preslee.
I so admire those who post blogs even though they are struggling themselves. I know Preslee is in great hands there at PCMC and more importantly, her Heavenly Father's hands. How wonderful to get to hold her. Having you there constantly will be a great healing force as well.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are having this trial in your life....you will have more strength than you would ever have imagined.
Our prayers are with you and your little one.

I have a 15 month old named Presley and it really hit home and has made me hold her tighter! All of my children. They are so precious. Our family is praying for your little Preslee and you as well! She is a beauty and I know you guys are in many prayers! Stay strong. I am sure it was amazing being able to hold her in your arms after not being able to for so long.
ReplyDeleteWe are keeping your sweet Preslee in our prayers here in NC.
ReplyDeleteanother complete stranger but i saw your story from a friends facebook page. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I can't even begin to imagine what you all are going through. Your little girl is loved very much i am sure. Hoping for the best. Sending a little more love to your beautiful little girl and your family.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have ever met you before, but my friends have been updating their Facebook accounts and have been concerned about Preslee. I decided to check out your site and I cannot stop crying. My daughter is one month younger than sweet little Preslee. I am amazed by your strength. I am praying with everything that I have that Preslee will pull through this. My nephew was run over by a truck last summer and he pulled through. He was in a wheelchair for a while, but now he is doing well. I know that prayer works. Keep holding on! When things get tough, there are so many people (that you may not even know) that are on your side and praying for your sweet little family!
ReplyDeleteI heard your story on the news. I have been crying all day. I am so sorry. so so sorry. I have an 18 month old daughter and can't imagine what I would do if she were in an accident. Keep strong. The Lord will bless your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI smiled today when I seen how much you were smiling just being around your baby girl. I am praying for all of you! She is a fighter and can make it through!

After reading several posts on your blog, I feel compelled to leave a comment. My dad several years ago, fell and hit his head, He was life flown to the hospital, they too were very concerned with the swelling of his brain. It was a difficult time for me and my family, I cant imagine how hard it must have been for you.. But i just wanted to say that I am inspired by everything you have done and how strong you are. You and Preslee both have reminded me that life is hard, but we should never give up or back down. We should fight the whole way through. Thank you so much for sharing and for being strong. You are a strength to so many!
